Black Wrecker (Ichthyodraco ater

Return to previous page.

The Black Wrecker is dreaded by those who travel the seas due to its habit of attacking seafaring vessels. While they normally hunt large, slow sea animals, they have learned that humans make for easy prey once they can get to them. Their jaws are strong enough to crunch through wood, bone, and certain metals with very little effort, and multiple Black Wrecker pods have been known to work together to take down large ships. They not only have incredible strength, they are also one of the fastest seadragons. While swimming at high speeds, they tuck their forelimbs into a pair of slits on either side of their body to further streamline themselves. They use their forelimbs to construct intricate structures, investigate objects, and to carry their young when they are too small to keep up with their parents' impressive speed. These dragons live in groups of up to 25 individuals.

Black Wreckers utilize fear magic; an obscure subtype of mind magic. When using their magic, Wreckers will emit a low droning sound which triggers fear and a feeling of inevitable doom in prey, and in humans, has been known to cause them to jump overboard in an attempt to flee the dragons.
