Mangul

Return to previous page.

The Mangul are one of Talveria's most elusive sophonts, this is because they are nocturnal and most Mangul do not stray far from the Homelands. They naturally produce Ichor and can use their innate sorcery to absorb the knowledge of others, as well as the ability to manipulate the growth and adaptations of flora and fauna. Their reason for rarely leaving the Homelands was due to the Awakening of Iovien, its Wyrms nearly drove the Mangul extinct, and now the area known to them as the Homelands is the last extant Manguli Forest. In order to protect themselves from danger, they have used sorcery to cultivate the surrounding life to be as dangerous as possible to potential threats.

ART

a digital painting of a quadrupedal, winged monster on a simple mountainous background, taking place at night. The monster's head is facing the right side of the screen and is mostly flat, with two large, entirely white eyes, it also has a wide mouth. Its neck is long and starts going left, before curving right. Its wing-arms are long, it stands on its knuckles. The arm closest to the viewer is planted on the ground, the only claw visible is at the tip of the wing-winger. The arm furthest from the viewer is held off the ground, it has four fingers including the thumb and wing-finger, the first three end in shorter claws. Both hind legs are planted on the ground, each ending in three long toes, which in turn end in long claws. Its tail is thin and curved.

Notes

When I first designed the Mangul back in 2019, they were not sophont, but were simply intelligent monsters. Eventually, I decided to make them one of Talveria's many sophonts, as I was fond of the idea, especially since at the time, Talveria fully lacked quadrupedal sophonts.
