The Lucentscale

Return to previous page.

Lucentscales are large dragons which live exclusively within the Crystalline Desert. These exceedingly rare dragons mate for life and will take turns incubating their single egg and hunting. As Lucentscales only lay one egg per breeding season, they are incredibly protective towards it and can become very dangerous if they feel their egg is being threatened. They mainly feed on the various plants found in the Crystalline Desert, though insects make up a decent part of their diet.

ART

the growth stages of a winged lindwurm-like dragon, the adult is on the left, the juvenile is in the middle, and the egg is on the right. The adult has a single, yellow eye in the center of its face, and has a pair of downward curving horns. Its long neck curves down into its body, its front legs are short and muscular, ending in four claws, while its thick tail acts as a third leg, being dragged across the ground. Its wings are made up of two spines, the first one is much longer and starts from the shoulder, while the second, shorter one comes out near the base of its tail. The dragon's head and wing membranes are white, while the rest of its body is a slightly darker, cooler white. The juvenile resembles the adult, though it lacks true horns, is chubbier, and has significantly smaller wings. The egg is white and entirely round.

Notes

This dragon was partially based on an old concept sketch of Iovien, back when I was going to make its facial "mask" completely blank, save for a single eye.
