The Esserath is a stocky, six-limbed dragon which bears two short wings. They are omnivorous and mainly feed upon fruit and medium-sized mammals. They are best known for their unusual method of breathing fire—they inflate their body with large amounts of flammable gas before releasing it all at once as a massive wall of flame. This fire blast is extremely dangerous, though it cannot be frequently used due to the amount of gas it needs to produce. Because of this, Esserath mainly use their fire breath as a last resort, their tusks and horns are usually enough to fend off opponents. They are found in the more temperate Haluran islands, though they will travel south to raise their young. Their eggs are round and heavily textured, their shell is especially thick and will often need the aid of their parents to hatch properly.

This dragon was originally called the Essergafer. It was one of two dragons that originated from the dream that lead to the creation of this project.
